ARNALDO M.A. GONÇALVES is professor of Political Science and International Relations in Macau, China. He is a research fellow at the Institute for Political Studies at the Catholic University of Portugal and president of Luso-Asian Forum, a think-tank on China-Portugal relations.

He has authored eight books in political thought, law, political science and international relations, and publishes, regularly, in his areas of expertise in scientific reviews from Poland, Argentina, Portugal, Ireland, Singapore, France and Macau.

Biography

ARNALDO M.A. GONÇALVES is professor of Political Science and International Relations in Macau, China, with a long collaboration to the Polytechnic Institute of Macau, as lecturer in the graduation of public administration, and recently in the Master of Public Administration. He is a research fellow at the Institute for Political Studies at the Catholic University of Portugal and in 1997 found ‘Luso-Asian Forum’, a think-tank on China-Portugal relations, which he presides upon, since then. Dr. Gonçalves earned his PhD from the Catholic University of Portugal, in 2012, with a thesis on Europe-China relations, under the supervision of Prof. Carmen Mendes, of University of Coimbra. He has a Master Degree in Political Science from the same university (2003) and a law degree from the University of Lisbon, completed in 1977.

Dr. Gonçalves has authored eight books in the areas of political thought, law, political science and international relations, all in Portuguese. As independent researcher, he has been publishing, regularly, in his areas of expertise in scientific reviews of Poland, Argentina, Portugal, Ireland, Singapore, France and Macau. Dr. Gonçalves has contributed regular opinion columns to the press since 1991, presently having a bi-monthly column at the daily newspaper ‘Hoje Macau’. From 1991 to 1997, he was political and legal adviser to the Portuguese Government of Macau. Presently, is a legal consultant at Macau Institute of Civic and Municipal Affairs. Dr. Gonçalves is member of the International Political Science Association (IPSA), the Portuguese Political Science Association and the American Political Science Association (APSA).
